Most people who contact us need one of four things. Which one depends on how complicated the claim is and how much of it you would rather do yourself.
| If this is your situation | Start with |
|---|---|
| Simple cash, your own name, you have old address evidence | Search these records here — free |
| You want the steps written down but will do the work | The DIY claim kit |
| You are not sure which of these applies to you | A free thirty-minute consultation |
| An estate, a business, securities, or a denial | Full-service recovery |
| You only need a signature witnessed | Notary and affirmation |
| You are a business that may be holding others’ property | Escheatment audit |
Whether there is anything there, what it will take to prove, and whether you need us at all. That last one matters: the consultation ends with a straight answer, and often the straight answer is that this is a form and a notary and you should keep the ten per cent.
Full-service recovery is charged as a percentage of what is actually recovered, capped at ten per cent by Code of Civil Procedure section 1582, invoiced after the Controller has paid. No search fee, no filing fee, no retainer. If we recover nothing, you owe nothing.
Our fee is capped at ten per cent of what is recovered by Code of Civil Procedure §1582, and nothing is owed until the State Controller has paid you. If we recover nothing, you owe nothing. Our recovery fee is never asked for up front — it comes out of money the Controller has already paid you. A booking deposit on an in-person appointment is a separate thing, and is credited back against anything you are charged.

Give us a name and we will check the State Controller’s records under every reasonable variant of it. Asking costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
Ask me anything about California unclaimed property — how claiming works, what the State requires, what we charge, or whether a name turns up anything. I can run the real search.
I am not a lawyer and cannot say who is legally entitled to an inheritance. Our fee is capped at ten per cent by state law and nothing is owed until you have been paid.
